MS Sathyu’s game and other things to enjoy this weekend


The still lifes of the pandemic, a new exhibition at the Threshold gallery, presents new works by artist V. Ramesh. It juxtaposes what is alive with what has deteriorated over time, to show the impermanence of the body.

Varasudaara, a Kannada play directed by MS Sathyu and written by Jayaram Rayapura, looks at the time when princely families in northern India had to take sides in battles between the four sons of Mughal Emperor Shahjahan.

Ranga Shankara brings a mix of classical and modern with performances by Shubha Santosh, with his improvisations on the veena, and composer-musician Vasu Dixit. The latter’s vocal style is a celebration of life, whether with the group Swarathma or with the Vasu Dixit Collective.
