OnePlus Nord beats iPhone SE with stunning new feature

With its uncompromising flagship processor, the iPhone SE seemed unbeatable in the mid-range segment, but a new smartphone now looks set to crush Apple’s entry-level smartphone in one important area.

MORE FORBESOnePlus Nord will offer a “flagship level” camera

In an official Instagram post, OnePlus today confirmed that the company’s very first mid-range handset, the North, will come with dual selfie cameras offering an ultra-wide field of view of up to 105 degrees. This ultra-wide front camera lets you fit more people into group selfies and capture much more background in solo shots without the need for a selfie stick.

The iPhone SE, on the other hand, makes it harder to capture such snaps than other current iPhones. Indeed, Apple’s entry-level model comes with a 32mm equivalent selfie camera that frames a much more precise shot than the 23mm equivalent lenses in the iPhone 11 range.

Based on the specifications released today, the OnePlus Nord front camera is expected to be able to shoot much more than twice the width of the iPhone SE and significantly wider than the iPhone 11 lineup.

Other previously disclosed OnePlus Nord’s photo features include a quadruple main camera setup, featuring a 48-megapixel main sensor as well as 8-megapixel, 5-megapixel, and 2-megapixel ultra-wide “portrait” modules. While the North’s expected Snapdragon 765G doesn’t measure up to the iPhone SE’s Apple A13 Bionic chipset, OnePlus certainly seems to have the upper hand when it comes to camera features.

Features alone are of course not a guarantee of quality, but all will be revealed on July 21 during the promised launch of OnePlus’ augmented reality-based product.
