People are speculating what the Queen is keeping in her purse and the guesses are crazy

While this is an incredibly high profile person, often greeting members of the public, some elements of the Queen’s lavish lifestyle are certainly shrouded in mystery, such as the contents of her purse.

The #WhatsInTheQueensHandbag hashtag started trending on Twitter on Sunday, as users decided to guess which items Her Majesty keeps on hand.

While Liz has previously been seen retrieving lipstick and glasses from her bag, the exact items inside the bag remain unknown.

In 2016, author Phil Dampier, who wrote What’s in the Queen’s Purse: And Other Royal Secrets, claims the accessory sometimes contains “a crossword cut from a newspaper by a servant in case she has time to kill; a feather pen; a diary and a small camera ”.

Meanwhile, Sally Bedell Smith, a royal biographer, claimed it contained a hook to hang it under tables, as well as everyday items like a mirror.

All of these claims are, of course, reasonable, but Twitter is Twitter, and people have decided to come up with some rather bizarre and hilarious predictions about what is in fact stored there by the queen:

It’s not just the contents of the bag that has been the subject of speculation either.

It has also been reported that the bag itself is used to signal particular messages to the Queen’s staff, with The telegraph report last month that a bag on the table means she wants things to be over in five minutes, while a bag on the floor means she wants her maid of honor to come to the rescue.
